Who we are

The Theoretical Physics group at the University of Manchester. Our interest are wide-ranging, from the study of complex systems, including biological physics, through various aspects of condensed matter physics to nuclear physics and some particle physics.

Please note that other theoretical activity exists in various other research groups, including particle and astrophysics.

We have 11 permanent academic members of staff, three postdoctoral research associates, twelve PhD students and usually a few visitors.

We have good computing resources, using linux machines on the desktop, as well as higher-power compute servers and a beowulf cluster. We also make use of national computing facilities.
